Episode Description

Parenting a child with ADHD and sensory processing disorder (SPD) requires an understanding of your child’s sensory needs as well as the tools to support those needs. Personalizing parental support based on a child’s “sensory profile” can help you successfully co-regulate with your child and facilitate self-regulation over time. This understanding will empower you to better advocate for your child, which will, in turn, enable them to self-advocate in school and in life.

Pediatric occupational therapist Candace Peterson M.S., OTRL, a specialist in sensory processing and implications for ADHD and SPD, will show you how to determine your child’s sensory profile, give you practical strategies to help you lean into his or her strengths, and equip you and your child to support sensory systems.

In this webinar you will learn:

  • How to adopt a neurodiversity-affirming mindset that can shift your approach to parenting your child with ADHD and SPD
  • What sensory processing means and how to identify your child’s specific sensory needs and profile
  • How to determine your own sensory profile and be present and regulated during frustrating interactions with your child
  • Tools and tips for parents to support your child’s sensory needs
  • Parenting strategies to help you co-regulate with your child and foster self-regulation over time
